Nothing fancy but they do what they do very well: diner food. Whether breakfast or lunch, their food is fresh, well prepared, and served with flair (the waitresses all seem to have great character). We come sailing in Cascade Locks several times a year and, while there may be fancier places, places with more extensive menus, places with bigger dining rooms and places with catchier names, we think it's hands down the most satisfying food experience between Troutdale and Hood River (and that's both wa and or sides of the river). It's easy to overlook (looks from outside are .....huh) but you'd be sorry you went somewhere else. Service is pretty quick too (esp. Compared with other outfits in town).

The ambiance is a -1 but the sausage gravy is the bomb. The chicken fried steak was deep fried dry and overbreaded. Pancakes OK but not to fluffy. My advice order eggs and either of the biscuit and gravy sides. You can add a meat but there is a ton in the gravy. Its homemade a little spicy and awesome.

Where do I start?? Have you seen "No Country For Old Men"...this diner fit right in! Honestly I enjoyed it...as soon as the scary guy ordering a cup of clam chowder to go left. Friday night my friend and I were on our way to Carson Hot Springs in Washington (you have to take I-84 in Oregon to get there) and we decided to stop on the Oregon side of "The Bridge of the Gods" and have dinner. We had a choice of diner, diner or diner so we stopped at the diner. When we walked in there was a fluorescent light flickering in the back...not usually a good sign...but I think it was the fact that there were no patrons that alarmed us the most. We stayed anyways and shortly after sitting down we were greeted by a nice girl that was born with the temperament of a quality waitress...patient and miserably happy. She was very attentive the entire time we were there...so high marks for that. She also managed to get the scary guy with the cup of soup to leave. I liked her even more for that! Our food was good portion size and she was good about refilling our drinks so what else could you ask for...except some entertainment, right??? Not the usual though entertainment though...we got the guy that walked in from what appeared to be an episode of the Sopranos...with the the thick toupee like black hair and the shirt unbuttoned...really??? Yep! The poor waitress spent about 7 minutes with him taking his order...the conversation went like this: Man - "So, I don't see spaghetti on the menu..." Waitress - "Oh, sorry we don't have spaghetti..." Man - "So, can you make some?" Waitress - (pause & turns to look at the cook who shakes his head) "Sorry, we don't have spaghetti..." Man - "What's your special then?" Waitress - "Prime Rib dinner for $12.95" Man - "How big is the cut?" Waitress - (pause & turns to the cook who signs a 1 & 4) "It's a 14oz cut sir" Man - "Well, 16oz is a pound, so you're saying it's not even a pound???" Waitress - "I guess so..." Man - "Can I get a 16oz cut?" Waitress - (turns and looks at the cook) "Can he have a 16oz cut?" Cook - "No, 14oz is a big cut of meat, that's all we got!" Waitress - "Sorry sir" Man - "I guess I'll have the prime rib...what kind of salad dressing do you have?" This goes on for about another 3 minutes because he wasn't Catalina dressing and they don't have it...the sad part was I heard him telling the waitress he was in the area because he's building a house out there so this poor girl is probably going to have to deal with him on a regular basis. At any rate, my dinner was completely worth the $7 bill.

Lettuce was old..some brown edges. 18.95 fish dish was deep fried and dry. Old, worn out and torn bench seats. Waitress never asked me if everything was ok...I think too much showed on my face! We were grateful it was edible.

This is one one of those decrepit old-fashioned American diners. The service is okay, don't expect excessive pleasantries. The booths are in desperate need of an update but the food is decent. This is the only joint in the area open after 8 so you can expect a group of hungry hikers and optimistic tourists here. If you are in a pinch to find food after everything closed, don't be afraid to eat here.

If I could give a minus I would. We stopped in for a late lunch. The place was not busy. The waitress came over and took our drink order and gave us menus. She came back quickly we ordered an appetizer and our meals along with drinks. After confirming that appetizer meant before our main food we waited for a good 30-40 before we were brought our inedible food. I refused it and asked if our regular meals were close to being done. She said no they hadn't been started yet. I said then we are leaving i will pay for the drinks. I walked over to the cash register and waited and waited. After that we left. Never will I set foot in there again. Attitude was bad and so was food.

The staff is great.... The owner micro manages the entire establishment.... She is bottom line too bottom dollar at a great disadvantage to the staff... I do not support the business... Although I highly support the employees here... Unfortunately there is no other place to work in this town

Simple, affordable, friendly family diner. It's always fun to support a good local business. Stopped in here to take a break from a long drive and I'm glad I did. The waitress is not the least bit bothered by the fact that I did not order a drink and put together a simple meal out of inexpensive side orders. I even have a beautiful view of the mountain range in the distance.

We showed up at 11:30am expecting to have a late breakfast since it was a diner. It took the waitress 10 minutes to greet us and when she did it took another 10 minutes for her to tell us that they weren't serving breakfast when clearly it states they don't serve hot cakes after 11am. Never go here. Rude!

This is one of those, if I could give a minus I would. I've never had such awful service. They weren't particularly busy, but we couldn't ever figure out which of the people behind the counter were actually working. It took FOREVER to get waited on, served and then I had to go up to the register to finally get our check.

Good food, not fancy, but good. Out waitress had personality. Nice plus ... Showing out motel key from Bridge of the Gods Motel got us a 10% discount! I wasn't expecting anything grand but laughed when we asked the waitress what type of wine they had to offer that evening. She replied red, white and pink! I chose the red. This is a place where locals come to eat and are just expecting a basic meal. Going there with that expectation made it work.

It depresses me to think about the rubbish food my girlfriend and I got as take-out at this place. Diners with counter seating and cushy leather booths bring to my mind great-tasting comfort food. If I wanted to eat food that looks and tastes like it came with microwave instructions I'd go to the frozen foods aisle of a grocery store (or The Cheesecake Factory). We got salad that clearly came from a bag, a flavorless chicken alfredo drowning in sauce, soup that was clearly warmed up from a can, and a grilled cheese sandwich that was so sad it literally whispered in my ear that it wanted to die. Finally, the price for all of this was unreasonably high but, really, the food was so bad it wouldn't be a value at any cost.

The wait staff is super friendly but the food is no better, possibly even below, Denny's quality. I would highly recommend trying Char Grill up the road closer to The Bridge of the Gods. It looked good but just ran out of salmon when I walked in so I mistakingly left.

Don't go out of your way but if you are cruising through town craving diner type breakfast this is a decent spot. Service is friendly, price is right, food pretty good (under Denny's since that seems to be the comparison in these reviews). We were starving when we arrived and left happy.

Had a late dinner here while on vacation this week. A very pleasant surprise. A very good value. The Chef puts his heart into his work. Lots of very nice touches that are unexpected! Try the desserts, they are very good also.

We went in Cascade Inn for an "after wedding party" night cap with a group of about 30 people. The staff was expecting us and they did a wonderful job dealing with the demands of a large group. They were professional and warm to our guests, the drinks were awesome, the food was great and I'm grateful that they took us in. The waitresses/bartenders are extremely attentive. I highly recommend this place for a small dinner (which we have had in the past and was also great) and for a big party. We will be back many times!

This place is great. Stayed in town overnight visiting from Portland and ended up here. Very low key but super friendly. Burger was awesome and club was amazing. Salad was pretty good and the fries were ok. The burger and club made up for the fries. All said, the prices were very fair and the meal was totally worth the $18 tab for my wife and myself. We'll go back for sure.

Been through the gorge a hundred times, never stopped here before, this time we did. There was a review on here that it was "Denny's Quality"... I think the food was better then Denny's, more of a greasy diner feel but very flavorful. The portions were small to average, price was comparable to other "diner" type resteraunts and the service was "ok". There was one poor guy working the bar and resteraunt including lottery (poor guy) so it was a little slow but he was very nice and it didnt take long to get our food. We will probably eat here again.

Help! I've been held captive in a town with little choice in restaurants. While making a long road trip with my two boys and after a long day of driving came to spend the night in Cascade Locks. There seemed to be only 3 or 4 restaurants here and most were closed so Cascade Inn was were we ended up. The Inn is split in two parts, one is the restaurant the other a bar. Nothing looked interesting on the menu but we ordered anyway because we were hungry. There where three other tables with customers in the restaurant...most the place was empty. We waited over an hour to get served!!! I was minutes from walking out. Our waitress spent most the hour having conversation with friends sitting at the other tables, we were totally ignored. When I asked what was taking so long she said that the waitress who tended the bar had cheated and put her six bar room orders in front of our order, even though we came first. She said she couldn't do anything about it, and was sorry. I guess if I'd spent the evening talking with friends instead of taking care or my customs it wouldn't be too hard to pull off a trick like this if I was a competing waitress. When our food arrived I was highly disappointed. I ordered ground round steak with gravy. It tasted like a greasy, salt block. My peas and carrots were mushy and had no flavor and the texture of water-logged Styrofoam nuggets. I believe the peas and carrots came from a World War II can of sea rations. My son ordered fettuccine and the sauce was bland and watery. If your planning on spending the night at Cascade Locks I'd pass on Cascade Inn And my advice to Cascade Inn...spare your customers the misery and close your restaurant and expand your bar section Here is my advice to customers visiting the bar section of the Cascade Inn: Order and drink a few brews before ordering and eating your meal. This technique will help you so won't remember how awful the food tasted the next day.
